PHP Web Application Developer


Ross-on-Wye, south eastern Herefordshire


A starting salary of around £28,000 £40,000 depending on experience.


Role Summary

You will be solving interesting problems, so a keen curiosity for creative and disruptive programming is key. Experience in PHP /MySQL/CSS/HTML/JQuery is essential, with a good understanding of mobile app a plus.

This relaxed but motivated workplace has an informal dress code, and regular team and inter-team activities.

This is a great opportunity to join a CRM charity database company, working as part of a close-knit team.



  • Researching, designing and writing new software, programs & websites;
  • Testing new programs and fault finding;
  • Evaluating software and systems
  • Developing existing programs by analysing and identifying areas for modification;
  • Integrating existing software products and getting incompatible platforms to work together;
  • Creating technical specifications and test plans;
  • Writing and testing code and then refining and rewriting as necessary;
  • Writing operational documentation;
  • Maintaining systems by monitoring and correcting software defects;
  • Working closely with other staff, such as project managers, graphic artists, other developers, and the sales team
  • Consulting clients and colleagues concerning the maintenance and performance of software systems;
  • Investigating new technologies;
  • Continually updating technical knowledge and skills


  • Must have working knowledge of PHP, HTML, MYSQL, JavaScript, jQuery,CSS
  • Desired but not essential: Mobile Applications
  • Technical competency;
  • The ability to communicate with clients, colleagues and management to explain complex issues clearly and concisely;
  • A meticulous and organised approach to work;
  • A logical, analytical and creative approach to problems;
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail;
  • Business skills and commercial awareness;
  • The ability to work both in a team and alone and to manage your own workload;

Required education:

Bachelor's – but not essential

Required experience:

PHP, CSS, HTML, MYSQL, JavaScript, jQuery: 1 year +

The salary has been benchmarked for industry averages; however, there is some flexibility with salary for the right candidate. I must advise you that the starting salary we envisage for this post is in the region of £30k - £32k per annum, so please bear this in mind when applying
